Minister King X Pyeface, of K.A.G.E. Universal, was born in Oakland, CA and is a rapper, producer, and “Artivist”. He spent six years in federal prison and eighteen years in California state prison, where he was the youngest New Afrikan organizer during the 2011-2013 California Prisoners’ Hunger Strike. As the Director of California Prison Focus, his mission is to free New Afrikan elders, political prisoners and organizers of the California Prisoners’ Hunger Strike through support of the Agreements to End Hostilities, and as lead organizer for the campaign Liberate Our Elders.
Cat Brookplayed a central role in the struggle for justice for Oscar Grant and is the co-founder of the Anti Police-Terror Project (APTP) whose mission is to rapidly respond to and ultimately eradicate state violence in communities of color. Her current focus is harnessing the righteous rage of the streets into tangible alternatives to militarized police departments and a violent carceral state.
MC/Producer/Educator UnLearn has shared the stage with Wu-Tang’s Ghostface and Raekwon, Large Professor, Planet Asia, The Pharcyde, Skyzoo, Griselda, Jay Electronica, Talib Kweli and KRS-One. He is a co-host of Hip-Hop For Change Radio KPOO 89.5 fm, the True Skool TV Podcast and a Hip-Hop Educator, teaching the history and culture of Hip Hop & Beat-making to the next generation of Hip-Hop Artists and creatives.

In this workshop, ArtivistKadre lead facilitator, Minister King X Pyeface, will demonstrate “Artivist in Action” using various art media to create campaigns and plans of action to uplift voices and build solidarity with Komrades behind the walls and within impacted communities. This workshop will feature various examples and use cases, along with hearing from ArtivistKadre members from inside California prisons.
